Folio vs Pic-Time

Deliver the photographs, or build sales around them?

A delivery gallery can be the end of a job, or the beginning of print sales. Pic-Time brings galleries and selling into the same workflow. Folio is an option for photographers who primarily need a place to present work and deliver files, with business and sales tools handled elsewhere.

Start with the fit

Consider Pic-Time if…

Print sales are a meaningful part of your business. Pic-Time combines client galleries with a print store and sales automations, and its higher tiers include client selections and album proofing. Those capabilities may matter more than a simpler delivery setup.

Consider Folio if…

Your deliverable is the gallery itself, and you do not need it to run a print sales campaign. Folio supports portfolios, private galleries, watermarks, and download controls. It does not currently replace Pic-Time’s print store, sales automations, or album proofing workflow.

01. What to weigh

Decide whether the gallery is also a shop

Pic-Time’s print store connects galleries to lab fulfillment. If you sell albums or wall art, test the products your clients actually order, including shipping to their location. Folio does not include a print checkout. For a studio that earns a meaningful margin from gallery sales, dropping commerce is a business change, even if file delivery remains straightforward.

02. What to weigh

Automation is useful when you have a sales process

Pic-Time’s marketing apps support campaigns and automations for store sales. That is worth exploring if you want to follow delivery with offers. Ask how much setup and ongoing attention your campaigns require, and how you will judge their results. If your clients already receive all final files as part of their session fee and you do not sell prints, this may be a capability you simply do not need.

03. What to weigh

Proofing can mean different things

Showing watermarked previews is different from collecting image selections or approving an album layout. Folio’s proof gallery workflow covers protected previews and later delivery of finals. Pic-Time lists client selections and album proofing on its premium gallery tiers. Write down the feedback you need to collect before comparing plans, so a shared label does not hide a missing step.

Compare costs without guessing

Price the plan that covers your storage and required features, at the same billing interval. Include taxes, separate website or business subscriptions, and any sales or fulfillment fees. We link to current plan details instead of freezing a promotional price into this guide.

What to test before committing

Test a full delivery with a client-like viewer, then a print purchase if selling matters to you. Check gallery access, downloads, selection or approval steps, and any messages sent afterward. Measure whether the workflow supports your service, rather than assuming a sales feature will generate revenue merely because it is enabled.

If you’re thinking of switching

Review active campaigns, unfulfilled orders, album approvals, and client selections before moving galleries. An image upload does not migrate that business history. Start Folio with a new delivery, retain the source images, and keep Pic-Time available for clients with unfinished purchases or approvals until those commitments are complete.
